Nu Deco Ensemble

Since its inception in 2015, Nu Deco Ensemble has exploded onto the Miami musical scene captivating, engaging and fusing innovative, genre-bening orchestral based performances at for its Miami community.

 

Created for Miami by two of classical music’s most in demand artists, Juilliard Graduates Jacomo Bairos and Sam Hyken, and whose foundation is made from some of Miami’s top classical, jazz, and popular artists, Nu Deco Ensemble as a flexible and eclectic, hybrid orchestra designed for the 21st century. Through exciting, relevant and adventurous orchestral based performances and collaborations, Nu Deco Ensemble has shifted Miami’s musical narrative, bringing a renewed evolution and excitement to classically based music performances. Reimagining all genres of music, elevating every style of music, and collaborating with a wide range of diverse musical guests, choreographers, dancers, DJ’s, mixed media artists and sound designers, Nu Deco Ensemble is Miami’s new creative vehicle for cutting edge concert performances that take place in both traditional concert venues as well as alternative local venues.

 

With collaboration as a core value, Nu Deco Ensemble executes an array of ground-breaking music performances with an emphasis on living composers, collaborations with cutting edge artists from around the world, reimagining both classical and pop composers and new musical explorations of artists and groups with multi-genre influences. 

 

Nu Deco Ensemble engages the Miami community in highly integrative and dynamic new ways that serve and enrich all walks of our diversity, cultures and people. Through local partnerships with the Adrienne Arsht Center, The Citadel Miami, the Seminal Theater of Homestead, the De Lucca Foundation, and the Heinman Foundation, Nu Deco inspires and engages over 10,000 children annually through their interactive Imagine Series, as well, annually brings hundreds of community members from underserved communities to attend performances along side concert attendees. Likewise, in 2020, Nu Deco Ensemble pilots a Youth orchestra initiative which teaches high school aged students, classical and genre-bending musical styles, arranging, composition, improvisation as well as works closely to instruct them on wellness, health, leadership, collaborative communication, interpersonal skills, and community stewardship. 

 

Recent highlights include unique collaborations with Macy Gray, Ben Folds, Jacob Collier, Kimbra, Kishi Bashi, Time for Three, Danay Suarez, Cory Henry, Stephen Marley, Emily King, Bilal, Luke James and many more award winning, cross over, genre-bending artists. The New York Timeshas hailed NU Deco as a “Chamber orchestra for the 21stcentury” and Billboardhas announced them as “Sonically Spellbinding”. After their first major tour to SPAC on stage, in Saratoga Springs NY, Saratoga Livingexclaimed them “fiery, captivating and refreshingly original. In October of 2019, Nu Deco Ensemble releases its first Album to include genre-bending collaborations, Popular reimagining’s by Sam Hyken, and new music by some of today’s most exciting living composers.
